"Blues and the Tuning of the World: A blues overview of the history of western and eastern music rendered on solo acoustic guitar"

Gary Lucas will present a solo acoustic concert that will tie together disparate musics from all over the world whose common thread is the blues--
including Jewish music, African music, 30's Chinese pop, Celtic music, classical music (Wagner, Dvorak) and more.

GARY LUCAS has been called "one of the best and most original guitarists in America" (Rolling Stone) and "The Thinking Man's Guitar Hero" (The New Yorker). He has released over 20 acclaimed solo albums in a variety of genres and has collaborated with everyone from Leonard Bernstein to Jeff Buckley, Captain Beefheart, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Chris Cornell, Amanda Palmer etc. He is a composer of note for film and tv and accompanies sound and silent films live all over the globe with original soundtracks. His latest album "Cinefantastique" (Northern Spy)--a collection of some of his film music and covers of music from Hitchcock, Fellini and other greats, made "Top 10 Roots Albums of 2013" in the Philadelphia Citypaper and "Guitar Album of the Year" in the Gapplegate Guitar and Bass Blog. He has toured in over 40 countries to date including China, Japan, Russia, Latin America, Europe, Australia and Cuba.
