Gary and Peter The Du-Tels is Gary Lucas' psychedelic acoustic folk duo with legendary folk master Peter Stampfel (Holy Modal Rounders, Fugs, Bottle Caps).

The reissue with bonus tracks of the 2000 album "No Knowledge of Music Required" by The Du-Tels (Gary Lucas and Peter Stampfel) gets a 4 star review in the latest issue of MOJO Magazine (UK). Available now on Don Giovanni Records.

Starting in August of 1994, their concerts in the New York area have been celebrated for their freewheeling madness and whimsy as Lucas (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Stampfel (fiddle, mandolin, banjo and vocals) romp through sets of material ranging from a crazed version of Joseph Spence's "Out on the Rolling Sea" to the "Astro-Boy Theme" with stops in between to songs by Charlie Patton, the 5 Keys, The Stanley Brothers and other Lucas/Stampfel heroes, as well as (of course) their own inimitable originals such as Peter's haunting "Wisconsin Honeymoon" and Gary's succinct "Apismatisin'".

The Du-Tels' long-awaited debut album "No Knowledge of Music Required" is out on Shimmy Disc.

A great vehicle for Gary Lucas to display his acoustic virtuosity outside Gods and Monsters and have fun with his pal Peter!
