Gary Rocks in New Book

Jews Who Rock"Jews Who Rock" is the new book just out on St. Martin's Press in time for Chanukah, edited by Guy Oseary (Madonna's Maverick Records label honcho) with a forward by Ben Stiller. And Gary made the cut—appearing on page 58 sandwiched between Courtney Love and Barry Manilow! Accompanied by a recent photo of him in action onstage in Paris by lovely Laura Bruniellere, the text extolls his achievements from Leonard Bernstein to Captain Beefheart days to Improve the Shining Hour, with mention of his copywriting stint for The Clash (coining their slogan "The Only Band That Matters") and his collaborations with Future Sound of London and Jeff Buckley. Gary and John Zorn are the only Jewish "Downtown" rockers profiled in the book, alongside such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Malcom McLaren, Beastie Boys, Joey Ramone, etc. On sale now at better bookstores everywhere, or order from St. Martin's at 212-674-5151.
