Gary's Acoustic Alchemy in Europe
Gary just got back from a whirlwind solo acoustic European tour with
ecstatically received performances in Amsterdam, London, Utrecht and
Tilburg.
His Oct. 2nd Amsterdam gig at the famed Paradiso marked his 17th
appearance at the famous landmark Dutch music venue since debuting there
with Captain Beefheart in 1980, and was a feature pick in the
Netherlands' national newspaper Het Parool, which accorded Gary a full page color photo in their Sunday magazine. He was
joined at the Paradiso, and in Utrecht and Tilburg, by lute master Jozef
Van Wissem. Their just released new BvHaast album "The Universe of
Absence" is currently making big critical waves with 4 and 5 star reviews, and has just entered the WNYU FM charts in NYC at #6. After his Paradiso show
Gary was invited to give a lecture and a masterclass at Amsterdam's
famous Music Conservatory, where he spoke and played before an overflow
crowd of students, and he is scheduled to make a similar appearance at
New York University on Oct. 18th.
In London, Gary also performed live on Charlie Gillett's popular BBC
radio program on Saturday night Oct. 2nd and played some of his favorite music, including a rare
live version of Gary and Jeff Buckley performing Bob Dylan's "Farewell
Angelina", during a game of Radio Ping Pong with Charlie which garnered
overwhelming listener response.
