Gary Lucas Joins Springsteen "Light of Day" Tribute CD for Charity, to be released this May
Gary Lucas with his band Gods and Monsters (Jonathan Kane and Ernie
Brooks) cut an incendiary version of Bruce Springsteen's "Ain't Got You"
in 4 hours for a new 30-artist double Benefit CD coming out through the
Spanish Buffalo Records label in May.
Entitled "Light of Day", the band
royalties normally earmarked for the illustrious artists who perform on
this Bruce Springsteen tribute album will be donated instead to the Boss'
two personal favorite charites: the Parkinson Disease Foundation in NYC
and the Kristen Ann Carr Fund (to fight sarcoma cancer), also based in
NYC.
Other artists who have contributed their version of classsic
Springsteen songs for the new album include Elvis Costello, Cracker,
Billy Bragg, Dion, The Georgia Satellites, Graham Parker, Nils Lofren,
Elliot Murphy (also Artistic Director), Steve Wynn, Patty Griffin, Cindy
Bullens, Sid Griffin, Rosie Flores, and many more. Gary is proud to be
able to pay homage to the Boss and is honored to be in such good rockin'
company on the album.
The double CD will be released in May 2003 in America on
School Kids Records, a New Jersey based label, and in Europe on Good
Sounds.
