Gary's 10th Anniversary Show on Dec. 11th—Don't Miss It!
Finally rescheduled from its
original June date, this show promises to be the 'ne plus ultra' of the
Lucas experience so far, taking place at GL's downtown NYC launching pad
The Knitting Factory on Friday Dec. 11th. Beginning at 8pm with a select
solo set that will cover old favorites played ten years ago at his first
ever solo gig (June 8 1988) at the old Factory to brand new compositions
fresh from his fertile mind and hot little hands...followed by a duo set
with special guests Danielle Gerber (a fantastic singer and co-author
with Gary of soon-to-be rock classic "Sweet Psycopath"), Richard Barone
(former Gods and Monsters member, ex-Bongo and excellent solo artist),
and Peter Stampfel (Gary's partner in their acid-folk duo The Du-Tels,
legendary half of The Holy Modal Rounders)...followed by the concert
debut of Gary Lucas' Big Pishers, his latest ensemble featured on "Busy
Being Born" comprising 'anti-glee club' singers Kenny and Larry, acoustic
bass virtuoso Greg Cohen, and world-class drumgod Jonathan Kane,
performing all yr BBB favorites.
The evening winds up with the first appearance in NYC in over 2 years of Gary's band Gods and Monsters
featuring Jonathan Kane and famed bassist and ex-Modern Lover Ernie
Brooks (the current film "Gods and Monsters", which is now playing in
NYC
and comes heartily recommended by Gary, takes its title from the same
source Gary's band name comes from, the great James Whale's black humor
classic film "The Bride of Frankenstein"). The Gods and Monsters set
will
reprise many favorites plus new material including "Breath of Bones"
(featured on the Knit Fac's JAM cd). 'Twill be a night to remember...be
there and live to tell your children about it!
